Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.15; rv:136.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/136.0
Steps to reproduce:
Type URL in address bar or type text and scroll to select/focus bookmark in address bar
Command + return
Actual results:
The URL or selected/focused bookmark in the address bar is opened in the current tab
Expected results:
The URL or selected/focused bookmark in the address bar is opened in a new, foreground tab
This is the behavior from previous versions up to 135.0.1. The change appears to have been introduced in the 136.0 release.
Command + shift + return behavior remains unchanged and works as before and as documented @ https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/keyboard-shortcuts-perform-firefox-tasks-quickly

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::Address Bar' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

Please check the 136 release notes, if you do not use URL canonization you can simply turn off the browser.urlbar.ctrlCanonizesURLs pref in about:config to restore the previous behavior.
