User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; .NET CLR 1.0.3705) Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.3b) Gecko/20030210 All my mozilla mail is on a partition encrypted with Drivecrypt. most of the time, everything behaves, and drivecrypt cannot unmount my mail parition while mozilla is open, but sometimes, it allows a normal/clean a dismount if mozilla is open, or mozilla had a email open in the background I didn't catch before the dismount. if this happens, and then I try to close mozilla, there is a windows error with the title "mozilla.exe" - Wrong Volume error text reads: "The wrong volume is in the drive. Please insert volume into drive \Device\DCRMOUNTs00000000" and gives options Cancel, Try again, Continue. None of these options will work, they will just cause the window to pop up again. The X in the window won't close it, and task manager won't kill mozilla.exe. The way to make it go away, is to reboot, or to remount the drivecrypt partition and hit try again. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1.make a drivecrypt parition & mount 2. put your mozilla mail on it 3. do not close mozilla. 4. Attempt a clean dismount of the partition (sometimes it will, sometimes it won't). If it doesn't, you can do a brutal dismount to see the behavior 5. Error pops up Actual Results: Wrong volume in drive error... Expected Results: It should always let the OS know that there is an open file on the mounted partition so that a normal dismount is impossible without cleanly closing mozilla. At best, a minor annoyance and source of confusion for users, at worst it is a data loss situation of whatever you were working on in Mozilla
Mail is not Browser.
reporter: can you try putting cache or bookmarks or something browser-ish onto the drivecrypt thing? (cache directory can be specified in edit>preferences..., bookmarks can be configured by setting a special value in user.js). my bet is that this is xpcom
I moved the browser cache to the encrypted partition, and repeated testing with the browser only, leaving mozilla mail closed. If I dismount the partition with Mozilla still running, the previously described behavior persists. http://www.drivecrypt.com/drivecrypt.html is the encryption program I'm using, but I doubt it has anything to do to it, it just presents a mounted encrypted partition to the OS as a normal filesystem. This isn't a critical bug in my opinion, I'm just pitching in and trying to help a great project as I can.

Statistically, we have found that bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code. While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug (given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more reproduction information if you have it. The original summary for this bug was longer than 255 characters, and so it was truncated when Bugzilla was upgraded. The original summary was: mozilla.exe, the wrong volume is in the drive error. When storing mail on encrypted partitions, I can sometimes do a normal dismount because Mozilla says it has no file lock, but the after the dismount, it complains that the wrong volume is in the drive and it cannot cancel, try again or continue
