Steps to reproduce:

I opened yahoo mail client in firefox
I created a message
I pushed the attach file button then attach files from my computer
I went to a shorcut of a folder
i pushed open

Actual results:

Firefox attached my lnk file

Expected results:

Firefox should have opened the folder indicated by link to choose a file as it did with older versions of firefox.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::File Handling' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

This problem is solved if you set the parameter from about:config widget.windows.follow_shortcuts_on_file_open to value 1 as default instead of 2 how is now from version 137.0

Summary: After update Firefox to 137.0 the attach file function in email web clients(yahoo,gmail) attach the shortcut file of folder instead of opening the folder corresponding of link to browse for files as it was till now. → File chooser attaches shortcut file for folder instead of opening the folder
