User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.15; rv:138.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/138.0
Steps to reproduce:
I use a Logitech headset that connects to my MacBook via a dongle.
Join a meeting on Google Meet or Slack.
This issue only happens on Firefox, does not happen on Chrome, safari or other apps installed.
Actual results:
The audio quality gets dropped to 8000Hz. Open the Audio Midi Setup and you will see the format set to 8.000Hz instead of 48.000Hz. It happens everytime I join a meeting.
Expected results:
It should not change my audio quality.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Core::Widget: Cocoa' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

How many Hz does the Input (microphone) side of the Logitech G533 use? This appears to be an older headset.
With bug 1404972, Firefox uses the OS vpio (Voice-Processing I/O) echo-canceller on Mac. During microphone use, it aligns output with input format for full-duplex audio.
E.g. with my AirPods, I see format dropping from 48000 to 24000 Hz, matching its microphone at 24000, which works well for me.
But I agree 8000 Hz is low. Are you using its most recent firmware update? Older models appear to have limited Hz in its full duplex mode.
Does the issue go away if you set media.getusermedia.audio.processing.platform.enabled = false in about:config?

Thanks for the reply :)
Your Airpods example gave me an idea. I switched to a different Microphone and the issue went away. Thanks, the bug is not on Firefox
