User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.3b) Gecko/20030210 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.3b) Gecko/20030210 Not really important, but I encountered this problem when I encountered the situation described in the last bug I reported, 196601. On mail folders (so far I've found, anyway) with over 2500 emails in, the CPU gets saturated (to the point of interrupting other processes) while Mail rebuilds the summary file for that mail folder. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: I don't know how to force a summary file rebuild safely, so I can't just reproduce the problem at any time, but this problem happened on every occasion the summary file had to be rebuilt, on large mail folders with >2500 emails in. Actual Results: CPU usage went to 100%, other apps running, including Winamp 2.81 froze during the rebuilding of the summary file. (they came back fine afterwards, but probably irrelevant)
Confirming again with Mozilla 1.3 release.
marking dup of 172786 - I hope the fix for that will ameliorate this problem *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 172786 ***
