User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:138.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/138.0
Steps to reproduce:
-
Open several tabs and click the
List all tabsbutton. You will see a list of all currently opened tabs, which is expected. -
Select multiple tabs, right click on them and click
Add Tabs to New Group. Name this groupTemp. A new tab groupTempwill be created. -
Right click on the
Temptab group and selectSave and close group. -
Click
List all tabs. You will see the list of currently opened (not grouped) tabs under theCurrent windowsection and previously savedTempgroup under theRecent tab groupssection. -
Restore the
Tempgroup. -
Click
List all tabs. Now, under theCurrent windowsection all your opened tabs (grouped and not grouped) will be show twice. -
Repeat steps 3-6. Another duplicated list of open tabs will appear under
List all tabs->Current window.
Actual results:
Every time you save and restore a tab group, you have yet another duplicate of all your currently opened tabs under List all tabs -> Current window. Screenshot is attached.
Expected results:
I am not sure if this is a bug, but if it's not, I just don't get the logic behind this. I expect List all tabs to simply show the list of currently opened tabs without any duplicates.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::Tabbed Browser' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

I managed to reproduce this issue on Ubuntu 22 x64 while using Firefox 138.0.4.
However I didn't manage to reproduce the issue on Nightly 140.0a1 and Firefox 139.0b10.

This was addressed in bug 1956254 and the fix will be available in Firefox 139 on March 27, 2025. Sorry that we didn't get this fixed in time for Firefox 138.
