reason:

  1. The number of characters displayed in the tab is reduced.
  2. Even though there is a colored hairline, the indentation is redundant.
  3. When maximized, the indentation causes Fitts's law to break down when clicking on the tab at the edge of the screen.
  4. When collapsed the sidebar, the tab groups are no indent. And This satisfies Fitz's law. This is inconsistent.
  5. As an aside, when using a horizontal tab bar, there is no equivalent to indentation.
