I had pinned and open tabs in Firefox. After closing the main window (leaving a Private Window open), I reopened Firefox while the Private Window was still active — and all my pinned and open tabs were gone.

Steps to reproduce:
I have pinned tabs and already opened tabs. I opened Privacy Windows and close the Firefox window leaving the Privacy window alone. After a minute, while privacy windows is still active, I opened Firefox and all the pinned tabs and already opened tabs were gone.
Actual results:
All pinned tabs and already opened tabs were gone.
Expected results:
It shouldn't be gone like that.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::Session Restore' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

Hi,
I am able to reproduce this issue in Release 139.0.4, Beta 140.0b8 and Nightly 140.0a1(2025-06-13) using Windows 10. The issue is reproducible with "Open previous windows and tabs" enabled as well.

I can see why this is a bit confusing, but in this scenario you aren't actually stopping and starting a new session - your original window is still in the recently closed list while the private window is open. That said, this is something we want to fix. I'm going to duplicate this bug to one we already have on file.
