Affected Version:
Nightly - 141.0a1/20250617213038
Description:
When the pageAction is clicked on a tab, the corresponding Taskbar Tabs window is created. Initially the Taskbar Tabs window has the default Firefox icon. When the OS notification pops up asking to pin the window, if the user refuses to do so or dismisses the notification, the Taskbar Tabs window icon will remain the default Firefox icon and not switch to the icon representative for the website.
If on the other hand, the user chooses to pin the Taskbar Tabs window, the window icon will switch to one representative of the content of the tab.
Steps to reproduce:
- Access https://www.reddit.com/ and click the page action to create a Taskbar tabs window
- Notice that the taskbar icon of the newly created Taskbar Tabs window is the default Firefox icon
- Click inside the Taskbar Tabs window and wait for the OS notification to be displayed asking to pin the tab
- Once the notification is displayed, select “No, thanks”
- Notice the Taskbar Tabs window icon does not change from the default Firefox icon
- Eject the Taskbar Tab by means of the pageAction
- Once the tab is returned to the main Firefox instance, click the pageAction again to create a Taskbar Tab window again
- Once the pinning notification is displayed again, select “Yes”
- Notice the Taskbar Tabs window icon in the taskbar changes to the Reddit icon
Actual results:
Refusing to pin the Taskbar Tab window results in the taskbar icon not changing to an icon representative of the tab content
Expected results:
The taskbar icon of a Taskbar Tab window should change immediately on creating the window
