1973505 - Re-open the group tabs

Steps to reproduce:

1. A few weeks ago, I created a few tab groups using the "Save and Close Group" function.
2. Now I want to re-open a tabs group form the list of all tabs, but I can only see the last group that I created yesterday.

Actual results:

In the "Recent tab groups" section of the all tabs list I see just one group that I created yesterday

Expected results:

There should be a list of all tabs group created.

Hi Fabio, that sounds awful. All saved tab groups should appear in the list of all tabs if Firefox still has them saved. There are a few reasons why saved groups might not appear:

1. when you "saved and closed" the tab group, none of the tabs had any web pages in them. Tab groups with only empty tabs will not be saved. For example, you can see this by navigating a tab to the URL about:blank, creating a group from the tab, and then "save and close" the tab group. It will not be saved and so it will not be in the list of all tabs.
2. your session data was lost some time in the last few weeks. I'm not quite sure how that would have happened, but that would explain why the saved groups disappeared from your session data.

Is there any more information you can provide about when you last used the lost saved groups? Do you use the "Open previous windows and tabs" setting in Firefox? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/restore-previous-session#w_configuring-session-restore

Hi Stephen, thank you for your reply.

I created the tab groups a few weeks ago, but I haven't reopened them since. I created all the groups by dragging the tabs onto each other, so none of the tabs were empty.
I don't use the "Open previous windows and tabs" setting in Firefox. I always have a few tabs open and restore them by clicking on the Firefox menu, selecting "History," and choosing "Restore previous session." Therefore, I believe my session data was not lost.

Hello! I have tried to reproduce the issue with firefox 142.0a1(2025-06-25) on Ubuntu 22.04 and Windows 10, unfortunately I wasn't able to reproduce the issue.
Could you please answer the following questions in order to further investigate this issue

Hello, thank you for your support.
It's difficult to try creating a new profile, at this moment even with the old profile I see the last group created this week.
In a topic on the support forum, I read that the tab groups are saved in sessionstore-backups files, is there a way to find the old jsonlz4 files?
