User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.1) Gecko/20020826
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.1) Gecko/20020826
(Installed via Talkback-Enabled Full Installer) This may be the way Mozilla
interacts with my distro (Mandrake, mostly standard RPMs) but whenever I try to
type into any dialog box, 1.3 hangs. I've tested this on the address bar, the
'Rename Profile' box, and in web pages themselves. It locks every time. Even
hitting an arrow key locks it. I've reinstalled twice, and even redownloaded the
installer. No problem mouse browsing, but even shortcut commands (back) kill it.
I have to use Xkill to get it away.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Type anything in any text box.
Actual Results:
er... It hung up.
Expected Results:
It should Not have hung up.
Occurred under both themes I have installed, and also occurred both while 1.1
was also installed, and after I uninstalled it and reinstalled 1.3. Tested both
the talkback-enabled full install and the .tar.gz.

I also have this same problem.
I am running Redhat 8.0. I have applied all of the latest redhat rpms. The
browser version is :
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.3) Gecko/20030313
I have completely formated my harddrive and reinstalled. I installed the 1.3
browser from the RPMs on the mozilla ftp site.

I also have the same thing occur. I use RedHat 9.0 and am forced to use konqueror. It was
working fine until I tried to open the browser while trying to recompile the kernel. Even after
restart/reinstall it won't work - any version. Netscape of Phoenix won't work either.

I have this problem as well.
Running MozillaFirebird on Slackware 9 in Windowmaker.
It only does it when kppp is running. If I'm not connected to the internet I can enter
text into the location bar without the damn thing hanging. I've read elsewhere that
this may have something to do with the type ahead functionality and that switching it
off resolves the problem (alas you don't get the option to switch if off in Firebird).
The cursor blinks erratically in the location bar when I'm logged on.

I have this same problem. It happens with URL bar, search bar, or any text field on the page I
am visiting. I can still move around via the history, bookmarks, or clicking links. I can put the
cursor into the URL bar/search bar/form field, and then click somewhere else without it
freezing. But if i try to type into one of those, MozillaFirebird freezes. I am running the latest
nightly binary [0.6.1+ Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.5b) Gecko/20030820
Mozilla Firebird/0.6.1+], but I have had this problem for the last few nightlies I tried (a month
or so ago this started happening). Restarting X or logging out, logging back in does not solve
this problem. Problem is solved by restarting computer. Then randomly (or so it would seem)
the problem happens again. I hope this is accurate enough to track this one down.

Forgot to mention, I am running Mandrake 9.1 all up to date with Mandrake Update, if that
helps. Thanks.

I fixed it on my computer... The same thing kept happening to me and it was
driving me crazy...
Check any firewall that you may have running (I had a custom iptables
firewall). If your loopback interface is blocked, then it doesn't work.
After I fixed my firewall to only block incoming eth0 packets, mozilla worked.
Try it...

Couldn't reproduce with Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.4)
Gecko/20031013. I tried blocking everything with iptables and nothing happened.
Even brought the lo interface down, still nothing.
This was on gentoo with ethernet for the network connection.

It's happening to me too. I'm using Redhat 9, and it happens in Firebird 0.7, as well as
the latest (as of 10 minutes ago) builds of both Firebird and regular Mozilla.
It's Moz build ID 2004010208
Even the configuration manager hangs when I try to type the name of a new profile.
Same symptoms other people are reporting, EXCEPT that sometimes it doesn't happen --
in some cases I can start Mozilla and things work fine, other times I start it and the very
first time I hit any key in any text box, dead.
