As being discussed in D255707, as a followup to the work part of Bug 1973228 we want to consider checking for NewTab train-hop add-on version again on Nimbus feature update events that may be emitted during longer application sessions.
This bugzilla issue is tracking looking into the additional changes needed to achieve that.
