- Nightly 142.0a1
Affected versions
- Nightly 142.0a1
Tested platforms
- Affected platforms: Windows 11, Ubuntu 25.04, macOS 15
Preconditions
- Enable the new avatar picker by setting
browser.profiles.updated-avatar-selectorto 'true' in about:config.
Steps to reproduce
- Navigate to about:editprofile.
- Open the avatar picker by clicking on Edit.
- Click on the Custom tab, upload an image with a transparent background and Save it.
- Observe how the custom avatar is displayed in all locations, including the badges in the taskbar/dock.
Expected result
- The custom image avatar should be displayed with a consistent, solid background (e.g. similar to icon avatars).
Actual result
- The custom image avatar shows inconsistent backgrounds:
-- In the profile menu, it has a half-colored background based on the set theme.
-- In system-level badges on macOS and Windows, the image is shown with no background, making it appear visually broken or unclear.
Regression range
- This is not a regression, it's introduced with the new avatar picker.
