Steps to reproduce:

  1. Go to https://firesmoke.ca/forecasts/current/
  2. Zoom in on a place with yellow highlights while the animation is playing.
  3. Watch the animation.

Expected results:
The yellow highlights should change normally. This is what happens in Chrome.

Actual results:
On every animation step, the map flashes briefly when the yellow overlay disappears completely for a frame and then becomes visible again.

It flashes in Safari too
