When I try to print this page in both the PS and PCL drivers, with "shrink to
fit" option and "with background colors", the spool file just grows, and mozilla
doesn't respond. I kill mozilla after the spool is about 500MB. Tried with
Gecko/20030313.
BTW, this is my electronic tax income :-)

Nobody confirmed this..
Anyway, I tried today with 2003072204 and it seems fixed.
Marking as such.

Sorry my mistake, this bug isn't fixed, I tried printing without background
colors. Without bg colors it prints ok, with bg colors it never prints.

Confirming. I tried this with 'print to file', and my computer eventually ran
out of hard drive space and the print failed! I tried it again and my computer
froze up from lack of memory! I did get the impression though that progress was
slowly being made and if my computer had enough resources available, the print
job would finish eventually. So perhaps this is more of a performance issue
than an outright hang. It may have something to do with all the tables or
international characters in the webpage.
(and yes, many bug reports go for months without being noticed)

This testcase hangs my Firefox when printing with Print Background
(colors&images) selected. Tested on win2k with 1.5beta1, 1.0.6, and latest trunk
20050908.
Print Preview works ok. The printer is HP LaserJet 4000 PCL 5e

The problem seems to be the 1x1 background image. I increased the image size to
10x10 and the printing didn't hang .

I suggest renaming the bug to "printing hangs with background 1x1 image"

I'll try to nominate this bug for Firefox 1.5. It is pretty serious and has a
simple testcase.

no patch, not a regression over 1.0, and not something we would stop ship for.
Hopefully someone will work on this for the next release but it's too late for
this one.

Changed summary as requested. I confirm the bug still exists in firefox 1.5.0.2.
Should I submit a new bug for firefox? I changed branch to "other branch" since I cannot find 1.5.0.x.
Summary: printing hangs because it creates a continuously growing spool file → printing hangs with background 1x1 image because it creates a continuously growing spool file
Version: Trunk → Other Branch
