Found in

  • Firefox 142.0b5

Affected versions

  • Firefox 142 beta
  • Nightly 143.0a1

Tested platforms

  • Affected platforms: Windows 11, Ubuntu 25.04, macOS 15.

Steps to reproduce
1 .Navigate to about:editprofile.
2. Open the avatar picker by clicking on Edit.
3. Upload an image that is either wider or taller to trigger the scrollbar.
4.Use the Tab key to focus the bottom-left dot, then press Shift + Right Arrow to enlarge the Selection UI.
5. Repeat this with all four dots and observe the image behavior while resizing.

Expected result

  • The user should be able to maximize the Selection UI without the image scrolling.

Actual result

  • When resizing the Selection UI, the image scrolls, even though the intention is to adjust only the selection area. Please see the screen recording for more details.

Regression range

  • This is not a regression, it's introduced with the new avatar picker.

Additional notes

  • The scrolling behavior is seen also when enlarging the Selection UI via mouse.
