(Reporter: ijwbmail, Unassigned, NeedInfo)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:141.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/141.0

Steps to reproduce:

I open firefox, and leave it open. It happens without me doing anything.

Actual results:

My mouse cursor is almost unusable, and flickers quickly between a text cursor and a normal cursor. It also lags the whole browser a bit when this happens.

Expected results:

Mouse cursor should work as normally, with no flickering or lag.

Hello, thank you for the bug report!

Would it be possible, please, to attach a screen recording of the issue?

Also, are you using a graphic tablet? Are there any other configuration needed to be set in order to reproduce this issue?

Setting the Product to ‘Core’ and the Component to ‘Widget:Win32’. Please change it if there’s a better fit, thank you.

I also am experiencing this problem, and reported it initially as a web compat issue. Having now encountered it on multiple sites, I think it's a FF issue.

As mentioned in a reply in the Github issue, the flicker does not appear in OBS Studio so a clean screen grab cannot be obtained. I can try to point my phone at the monitor to capture it if that will help?

I have experienced the problem on Github when attempting to open sliding panels or shift from the homepage to search results, in HTML-based games which use the canvas such as https://jacorb90.me/Prestige-Tree/, on the heavily animated site https://galaxy.click, and on many other sites. On Prestige Tree the cursor rapidly shifts between arrow, text-select, hand and disabled every time any CSS animation fires. The rapid cursor changes seem to be constrained only to the viewport which is firing the animations.

I am using a Wacom Intuos 3 tablet with OEM driver v 6.3.15-3 on Windows 10, which is the last available driver for the hardware. The problem occurs if using the accompanying mouse or the stylus. The problem occurs on new and existing profiles.

It started only with the installation of Firefox 141. All were working fine until the update.

Possibly related, I do also notice some flickering in FF v140 when playing Ruffle games, but the issues in that case were not contained only to a single tab's viewport but instead pervasive across all FF windows and tabs. This problem continues into v141. However, as this involves Ruffle I am not willing to lay all blame for it on FF alone.
