User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:141.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/141.0
Steps to reproduce:
- open the English Wikipedia page for Firefox
- try to copy the URL by clicking in the address bar and pressing Ctrl+C
Actual results:
- only "firefox" is copied
Expected results:
- the actual URL is copied
While I can click the blue globe icon and copy the URL then, I believe I shouldn't have to do this. I can't think of any scenario where I'd want to copy just the page title.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::Address Bar' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

Hello, thank you for the bug report!
If you navigate to about:preferences#search and disable the ‘Show search terms in the address bar on results pages’ option, is the full url shown in the adress bar?

Yes. So the enhancement I'm requesting is: when you click in the address bar and press Ctrl+C, Firefox should always copy the full URL, regardless of whether ‘Show search terms in the address bar on results pages’ is enabled.

Setting this enhancement as NEW so the developing team can have a look.

Changing the default of what happens when you copy might not be logical for many users - when you click the address bar, the word is highlighted, and so that is naturally what you expect to be copied.
Once you've selected the address bar, you can press escape a couple of times to get to the URL.
We have chatted to our UX team about this and they are currently considering if a context menu option might be helpful here.
