Steps to reproduce:
I am a 20+ year user of Thunderbird and Calendar. All worked fine with 140.0.1esr and now with 140.1.0esr I have a problem. This new version was installed 2 days ago for me. There is a small chance the problem started before my latest install 2 days ago, and that as I was trying to restart Thunderbird when I noticed the missing reminders, the new version was installed. I have a google calendar linked to Thunderbird.
Actual results:
First I noticed that calendar reminders were not up on my screen for things that I had set. I thought it was that reminders were not being sent. I checked for updates and restarted Thunderbird and when that did not work restarted my system. I created some test apts, and got the reminders, so I thought all was well. But now I am seeing that it appears reminders are popping up, but then dismissing on their own. I had one reminder on the screen when I came to the computer, and then another reminder popped up in the window but the first apt disappeared. I can duplicate this if I move reminders around. If I move one that is in the reminder box to an earlier time, it just disappears, even though it should still be there since it should have triggered since it was an earlier time, not later. I just tried something where I had 4 reminders open in the reminder box, and I moved 1 apt to be an earlier time, and 3 of the 4 reminders disappeared.
Expected results:
Apt reminders should remain in the Reminder box until they are dismissed. They could be in there for weeks if not dismissed.

Just another observation as I sit at the computer throughout the day. One reminder would pop up. Then another reminder for 30min later popped up, so there were 2 reminders. Then, at some point, about 10min after the new apt appeared, the first reminder just disappeared and only the 2nd one remains. This happened again 30mins later when a new apt popped up, so there were 2 reminders, and then 10min later, the earlier one disappeared.
Just another observation. I happen to be sit down at the computer and had 3 reminders in the text reminder box. Two had later disappeared over the next 30mins and there was just one left. It had been set for 7:30am. It presumably went off 5min early as I had set, and while I was sitting at my computer, at 8:11am, the reminder just went away completely. So in this case, it was not that it was being replaced by a previous one as I had thought was maybe the issue, but the reminders seem to be expiring in about 40mins.

Note bug 1934069 (you can change the setting back to remind you if you like).
If you're talking about past or no longer ongoing events, that would be what you're seeing.
If you are saying that the behavior without the above setting is for a meeting to show
up in the reminder box 5min before the event (I know that part is configurable) and then to disappear
10-15 min after the event is over, then yes, the above setting was my problem all along.
Much of the discussion about that setting seems to be related to opening up a new calendar
or on a new device. I am just using it on one calendar that has been open for ages on one device
and wanting the events to not disappear until I dismiss them. If this all seems to be
consistent with your intention, then feel free to close/invalidate/duplicate the bug. Thanks!

I'm not quite sure what you're doing, but yes if you just keep ignoring it until after the meeting then yes it would stop not remind after the event ended.
