Tested platforms

  • Affected platforms: Win 11, macOS 15, Ubuntu 24.04

Preconditions

  • Pref "browser.urlbar.trustPanel.featureGate" set to true.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Navigate to https://extended-validation.badssl.com/ or https://expired.badssl.com/.
  2. From URL bar, click on the unified shield icon.

Expected result

  • Connection not secure is displayed in the ETP panel.

Actual result

  • Connection secure is displayed in the ETP panel.

Regression range

  • Not a regression, as this is a new implementation of the Unified Trust Panel feature.

Additional notes

  • Marking this with the [fidefe-quality-foundation?] keyword, as the user may be misinformed about the security of the accessed page. As such, we consider this a high-impact bug for this feature.
  • With the current UI (pref "browser.urlbar.trustPanel.featureGate" set to false) the " Connection not secure" is displayed inside the lock panel.
