Steps to reproduce
- Ensure the Default app icon is currently selected
- Go to Settings → Customize → Change app icon.
- Select the Dark icon option.
Actual behavior:
The confirmation dialog with Cancel and Restart now buttons appears, even though the selected icon matches the current visual icon.
Expected behavior:
No confirmation dialog should appear, because Default and Dark are visually identical and there is no actual change to apply.
Device information
- Firefox version: 143.0a1 - 12.0-8.2025
- Android device model: Huawei Mate 20 Lite (Android 10)

hey hey hey
after discussion with the product/UX teams, we decided to keep those both. Although they might look similar, they are not exactly the same: the default is of dark purple colour, and the dark is pure black. I attached a zoomed version of the background where the difference is more notifiable.
To be honest with you, I didn't notice that myself until I started digging into the code and checking the hex colours so that's a totally valid question to be raised.
But I guess the desire here is to give users more options to choose from, so we will be keeping both.
