ska: I am unfamiliar with Linux desktops, but: do you mean the program icon
(the visual indicator that the MailNews program is running)? If so, that is
bug 137462.
If you mean a special 'new mail' icon (equivalent to the icon that appears new
in Windows' system tray when new mail arrives), I am unaware of any other bugs
for this problem.
mcow: if you icon your running program under UNIX it is still running
(Mozilla still check for new mail).
It is possible to change the Icon if new mail arrive so you are able to see
there is new mail. (Netscape mail do it and this is a great feature).
Yes you are right the problem is discussed in bug 137462.
