Steps to reproduce:
Within the last couple of weeks or so I've noticed that existing Thunderbird Task reminders were not showing up in the pop-up notification window. Went to Community Forum and found other users with similar problem at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1511047. I enabled what looks like a new setting ("Show missed reminders for writable calendars") per a suggestion there. I also created new Tasks and I tested them as well as older Tasks to see if they would generate notifications.
Actual results:
Enabling the setting above seemed to fix missing calendar Events but not the Tasks. It didn't matter if the Task was new or old it only provided pop-up notification if Thunderbird was open at the time set for the alert. Any missed Task alerts are not being reported. Also, I closed the pop-up notification window without dismissing a Task alert and I was never re-notified that the Task was still pending even after closing and reopening Thunderbird.
Expected results:
Tasks that are set to occur when Thunderbird is closed, and Tasks that are active but not dismissed when the pop-up is closed, should cause the pop-up notification window to be opened, and be listed among the alerts, the next time Thunderbird is opened.

I experimented the very same trouble: no reminder at all for events and tasks.
I didn't noticed precisely when it started but it seemed to appear after a bunch of updates from 128 up to 140.1.0 a month ago, before holidays. Today I tried to get rid of it by updating to 140.2.0 but it didn't solve. A brand new local calendar had the same trouble.
I recovered event reminders by setting "Show missed reminders for writable calendars" in Settings/Agenda and adding a notification in my agenda properties (as per https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1511047 ).
I still have the problem with tasks being silent. Either old tasks, edited or not, either a new one created for testing purposes.

I created a brand new local calendar and created a task within. The reminder did raise.
The trouble seems to be with online calendar. Mine is stored at https://framagenda.org/remote.php/dav/calendars and reminders worked fine until the recent TB updates.

Note that https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1500178 address a similar issue but dealing with Google Agenda. Maybe I need another provider but I can't figure out which one.

None of my Tasks were created in online calendars, all of my Tasks (new and old) are local to TB and fail to notify when missed.
Hello everyone.
The symptom has changed:
I deleted within Thunderbird my online calendar subscription then recreated it (and added a notification again).
My tasks reminders seem to show up again BUT if the reminders popup window show together events and tasks reminders, when I set a delay for an event reminder to show up again in X minutes, the tasks reminders unexpectedly diappear at the same time.
