1984982 - Closing Multiple Tabs, in the direction of a Tab Group, doesn't work.

Steps to reproduce:

Have a Firefox Window open with Grouped Tabs and an Ungrouped Tab.

Right click the Ungrouped Tab and go to the "Close Multiple Tabs" section.

Click on the "Close Tabs to the Left/Right" option, depending on where the Ungrouped Tab is located relative to the Grouped Tabs.

Actual results:

All of the Tabs are left Open.

Expected results:

The specified Tabs are Closed.

I uploaded the video and set the bug report Component as Tabbed Browser, but it looks like it didn't go through (the video file was too large, but don't know what happened with Component (I'm new to this, sorry)).

I'm not able to reproduce this in Nightly 144.0a1 (2025-08-27) on macOS. I'll have to check Firefox 142 on Windows in order to see if this is something that we ended up fixing.

When closing multiple tabs, make sure to pick the tab that's outside of the Grouped tab(s) being closed:

Doesn't work

• Ungrouped tab closing in the direction of a Grouped tab(s) [with/without ungrouped tab(s)].
• Grouped tab closing in the direction of a separate Grouped tab(s) [with/without ungrouped tab(s)].

Does work

• Ungrouped tab closing in the direction of a Ungrouped tab(s).
• Grouped tab closing in the direction of a Ungrouped tab(s).
• Grouped tab closing in the direction of a Grouped tab(s) [thats in the SAME group].

First Experience:

I first experienced this bug when tabbed groups came to Firefox (standard version & portable (Windows 10 x64)), but didn't report it as I assumed that this would be resolved in the early days of the feature being released to the mainstream userbase.

Is there anything that I could share to help isolate the cause of the bug?

I’ve tried to reproduce this issue on Windows 10 and macOS 15 in the latest Firefox 142.0.1, but with no luck. All options in the Close Multiple Tabs menu worked and grouped tabs closed correctly whether they were collapsed or expanded.
@RandomPersonUMet, could you please try again in a new profile or in Safe Mode (with extensions disabled) and let us know if it still happens for you? Thank you.
