User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:142.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/142.0
Steps to reproduce:
- Opened firefox on dual monitor setup on KDE Wayland
- Opened the application menu (top-right menu), everything is fine
- Turned off my main monitor (my main monitor completely disconnects when turned off, so in practice what I actually did is disconnect the DisplayPort cable completely)
- Turned my main monitor back on (equivalent to plugging the DP cable back in)
- Opened the application menu again
- The application menu is now on the wrong screen and can't be interacted with.
Actual results:
The application menu is on the wrong screen (secondary screen). Also, this isn't just visual and it renders the menu unusable: Hovering where the menu should be makes the options get highlighted but clicking does nothing, and hovering or clicking where the menu actually is does nothing. So Firefox's menu remains unusable until the entire program is closed and opened again. Therefore I think this bug should be very high priority since it renders parts of the program (such as the downloads menu) completely unusable.
I have attached a screenshot of the issue in action.
More details about my system:
I'm running EndeavourOS completely up to date and firefox 142. Running KDE Plasma 6.4.4 with Wayland. I have 2 monitors, one being 1440p with 125% DPI scaling and the other one being 1080p with 100% DPI scaling (aka no scaling).
Expected results:
The application menu should be in the correct screen and should be usable.
Let me know if you need more information.
I want to add something else: Many monitors, such as mine, disconnect completely from the PC when they go to sleep (due to inactivity etc). This means that in my case this bug triggers when simply leaving my PC alone for a few minutes. It's extremely annoying.
(This behavior from monitors suck, but it's unfortunately a reality and affected users can't do anything about it other than replacing it with a different monitor that behaves differently)

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Core::Widget: Gtk' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

Do I understand correctly that you leave Firefox with opened menu and then leave / turn off the monitor?
Thanks.

No, opening it just once before disconnecting the monitor is enough to get the bug to trigger whenever the monitor is disconnected. You don't have to leave the menu opened when disconnecting the monitor.
Note that not all monitors behave the same when powered off. It's possible your monitor doesn't disconnect the DP/HDMI connection when powering it off. If you can't reproduce it by powering the monitor off, try physically unplugging the video cable instead.
Thanks for your hard work!

Okay, please run on terminal with MOZ_LOG="WidgetPopup:5 WidgetScreen:5" env variables, reproduce it and attach the log here.
Thanks.
I'm going to assume the log is just the terminal output. If so, here you go, I've attached it.

I am also experiencing this bug. To add something I've discovered in experimentation, it does not seem to occur with both monitors set to 100% scaling, but as one of my monitors is 4k, I generally set it to 150% scaling (though it appears to occur at any scaling besides 100%, including 200% so it shouldn't be a fractional scaling issue). It also occurs with the Recent Downloads menu. Like the reporter, I am also using KDE Plasma as a desktop environment, if that matters.

Looks like different incarnation of Bug 1977547 - we reuse saved popup coordinates.
I want to add that lately I've been getting this bug completely out of nowhere, without having to let my monitors go to sleep. Just now I used the bookmarks toolbar to visit a website that I have in a folder, it was fine, and then a few seconds latter I went to open the same bookmark folder and the menu was suddenly misplaced.
