Link destination covers up page contents, no permanent status bar

Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:141.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/141.0
Steps to reproduce:
I used a web page that puts information at the bottom of the window and then removes that information after a brief period of time.
Actual results:
The bottom left side of the window was covered by the Firefox overlay that shows the destination URL of a link, thus I missed seeing the information from the web page.
Expected results:
In previous versions of Firefox, I had a permanent status bar and the link URLs would appear there, without obscuring the web page. That no longer seems possible.
This new behaviour is "destructive" or at least "obstructive" and definitely irritating. Please bring back a status bar are for displaying link destinations or otherwise find another mechanism for not obscuring page content.
I do want to see where a link is pointing, but I want this information to have a dedicated space, not cover up parts of the web page.

In the meantime, if there is a workaround, please let me know, as I find this behaviour very irritating.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Core::Widget: Gtk' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

Move this to 'Firefox::General'. It must be a UI/UX issue.

Peter, could you please provide clear and complete steps to reproduce this issue, along with the web page where the information appears at the bottom left of the screen?
Also, could you clarify the permanent status bar you mentioned for displaying link URLs - was this provided by an add-on?
