RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 117297

People

(Reporter: hacksoncode, Assigned: preed)

Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.4a) Gecko/20030324
Build Identifier: Modified 2.16

Email addresses that are entered with case differing from the Bugzilla username
are resulting in Bugzilla sending email to both addresses.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Enter a bug
2. Add a CC for FOO@bar.com (where foo@bar.com is a valid address)
3. Submit.

Actual Results:
Email is sent to both "FOO@bar.com" and "foo@bar.com" resulting in 2 emails for
that person.

Expected Results:
Only one email should be sent.

I don't think we've hacked anything that would affect this, but it's possible,
so any confirmation people can give would help.

Also, this is an especially bad problem for my company, because MIS has recently
started assigning everyone email addresses in the form FLname@synaptics.com
(where F is the person's first initial and Lname is the last name capitalized).
The prior convention was flname@synaptics.com. Therefore, people are constantly
typing one when the other is meant, and normally it doesn't make any difference,
so they never learn otherwise.

Except for Bugzilla...
This has been fixed in cvs.
