• Firefox Nightly 145.0a1 (BuildID 20250930043057)

[Affected Platforms]:

• Windows 10 x64
• Windows 11 x64

[Prerequisites]:

• Have the Firefox Release 144.0b7 app installed on the device.
• Have the browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.discoverystream.sections.enabled
  pref set to “true”.
• Have thebrowser.newtabpage.activity-stream.discoverystream.refinedCardsLayout.enabled set to “false”.
• Have the browser.search.region pref set to “US”.
• Have a VPN connected to a US server.
• Have the “High Contrast” option turned ON from the OS settings (any theme).

[Steps to reproduce]:

1. Open the browser with the profile from prerequisites.
2. Open a new tab.
3. Hover multiple cards on the New Tab.
4. Observe the behaviour.

[Expected result]:

• The hovered card is correctly and visibly displayed, without any issues.

[Actual result]:

• The image from the Story card disappears from view, with the rest of the elements remaining visible.

[Notes]:

• This issue is reproducible only for SOME of the medium-size cards.
• This issue is NOT reproducible for small-size or large size cards.
• This issue does NOT affect the “Grid” layout - the cards are displayed on hover.
• Attached a screen recording of the issue.

I have verified that this issue is no longer reproducible on Firefox Nightly 146.0a1 (BuildID: 20251110211328), on Windows 10 x64 and Windows 11 x64.
Considering this, i will mark the issue as Verified - Fixed.
