STR:

  1. To access the site (avoiding bug 1991383), first install an add-on like https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/user-agent-string-switcher/ to change your UA string. (The simpler "Chrome Mask" add-on isn't sufficient, because in this case the site makes requests to other domains and you need to be spoofing a Chrome UA string for those domains too).
  2. Visit https://omegleapp.me/chat/
  3. Complete the Cloudflare captcha (I just had to click a checkbox)
  4. Press "esc" to dismiss the "Tips" overlay
  5. Watch the "👀 Looking for your new buddy" section

EXPECTED RESULTS:
I should be connected to another user, for a text chat.

ACTUAL RESULTS:
It's stuck on "👀 Looking for your new buddy" forever.

Chrome 142dev (on Ubuntu) and Safari 26 (on macOS) both gives EXPECTED RESULTS
Firefox 145.0a1 (2025-10-03) (64-bit) on Ubuntu 25.04 gives ACTUAL RESULTS.

Note that bug 1991383 is filed on a rather-severe UA-sniffing-based block here. It's conceivable that the site might intentionally block Firefox users because of this precise functionality problem; not sure.

Summary: https://omegleapp.me/chat/ never connects to another user, if you're using Firefox (spoofing as Chrome, which you need to do to access the site) → https://omegleapp.me/chat/ never connects to another user, if you're using Firefox (spoofing as Chrome, which you need to do to access the site from Firefox)

Firefox 145.0a1 (2025-10-03) (64-bit) on Ubuntu 25.04 gives ACTUAL RESULTS.

Hmm, Firefox 143.0.3 (64-bit) release on the same machine gives EXPECTED RESULTS, so this might be a regression.

Aha, this ended up working in Nightly as well when I retested with a fresh profile. Possibly something was busted about the profile that I was using to test this at first.

So: good news, the site seems to work (when I spoof as Chrome).
