Steps to reproduce:

Actual results:

on my PC, windows 11(fully updated), everything was fine, but all of a sudden , for no reason, mozilla home page shortcut icons , the custom ones i made like, gmail, yahoomail, chatgpt,l foodpanda etc icons disappeared on their own. i have tried everything including Settings>home> enable shortcuts, but they don't show up any more

  • I have experienced the same problem (143.04) where shortcuts on the new tab homepage are not shown. I have checked browser.newtabpage.pinned in about:config and the pinned shortcuts are correct there but not shown on the home page.
  • I tried using Zen Browser to see if the same issue appears on a fork of Firefox, and shortcuts on the new tab page were shown correctly in the Zen Browser by copying over browser.newtabpage.pinned text from Firefox.
  • Refreshing Firefox worked briefly, after a refresh the shortcuts showed initially but once you open a new tab the shortcuts don't show up again.
  • Uninstalling and reinstalling doesn't work, only a refresh did the shortcuts show up temporarily as explained in the point above.
  • Disabling extensions doesn't fix the problem (extensions Privacy Badger, uBlock Origin, Private Internet Access, Firefox Colour, Facebook Container, and Bitwarden).

yes, exactly same here, all extensions are disabled. a refresh did make the shortcuts show up temporarily then they are gone, what is the solution ?

I have also experienced this issue, I have a chrome folder with userChrome and userContent.

I am having the same issue, just recently updated Firefox to 143.0.4. A restart of OS works 1 time but after that the issue reappears and restart also doesn't work anymore

Hi everybody, thanks for reporting this. We're not having any luck reproducing this in the lab, so we're hoping the people affected can help supply some more information to help track down what's going on.

We're hoping people affected by this can launch the Browser Console (Ctrl-Shift-J) when they see this issue after launching, and supply any relevant error messages related to newtab or TopSites or shortcuts, or really any error messages that could potentially be relevant, here in this bug.

It'd also be helpful if people shared their about:support (visit about:support, click "Copy text to clipboard", paste in a new attachment in this bug).

An update here - we believe we've identified the issue and are rolling out a fix. Presuming we're right, affected users should be relieved of this bug over the next few hours. We're going to keep investigating though.

We deployed a fix earlier today. It might take a bit before it kicks in, and you may need to restart.

In our tests once fixed, the pinned and previous shortcuts were recovered and still there.

Feel free to let us know if you see it fixed or not.
