After doing a "get messages" a few times, i am no longer able to access my pop
account because the cursor is busy (it is a watch instead of a pointer). the
stop button is inactive so i can't stop whatever is in progress.

this seems to also happen quite a bit when i toggle between my IMAP account and
my POP account. the imap account never blocks but the POP will always block
after just a few iterations.

when blocked, i can select messages in the inbox and they will display okay. i
can also compose and send messages, i just can't get messages and the cursor is
stuck "busy"

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. do a get mail under my POP account
2. switch to my IMAP account
3. go back to my POP account
4. cursor is stuck busy

Actual Results:
the cursor is stuck in the busy state

Expected Results:
the cursor should return to normal

my setup:

linux system
POP account with files stored on an NFS partition
IMAP account is really an SSH tunnel
