For Mac and Windows Installer, here's the bugzilla patches with the changes...

Main ticket: https://mozilla-hub.atlassian.net/browse/FIDE-2616

Windows https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2000740

Flavius, see https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/custom-installation-firefox-on-windows/history
I submitted a revision to the https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/custom-installation-firefox-on-windows article to revert your changes ... then I resubmitted it after your last update. Can you review? That article is for a custom install that uses the Firefox Setup file, NOT the Firefox Stub Installer (see bug 2000740)

Hi Alice, thank you. I put the content into a comment on the wiki, so it won't appear in the article until I have more clarification. I did update the image for fx 149.

Flavius, can you take another look? You only commented out the content for fx149 and above,
<!--{for fx149}
*However, you can also manually select the version of Firefox you prefer. Click {button Download in another language or operating system}. <snip>

The https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/custom-installation-firefox-on-windows/ article updates you made to this section has the following information viewable in all versions of Firefox: (the first link is correct. The second one isn't)
Where to download Firefox for a custom installation
You can download the Firefox Setup file in your language, from this Firefox download page. To install Firefox on your computer:

  1. Visit this Firefox download page in any browser, such as Microsoft Edge.
  2. Click the Download Now button. The Firefox Installer that downloads will automatically offer you the best available version of Firefox for your computer.

The article then goes on to describe the Firefox Installer ... which is not what the user needs for a custom installation. They need the Firefox Setup file from the first link.

I agree about the first link, which is this https://www.firefox.com/download/all/desktop-release/?utm_medium=referral&utm_source=support.mozilla.org&_gl=1*1x9imh0*_ga*MzU1MjI1MDIuMTc1NzY4MTI1Mw..*_ga_2VC139B3XV*czE3NzIwMjQ2OTkkbzUwMiRnMSR0MTc3MjAyOTMyMSRqNjAkbDAkaDA.

But then this link leads to the new download process introduced with fx149, which asks the user to customize their Firefox installer - that part of the content that I put within comment markups. If that's the case then I'll make the necessary changes to show users the steps. Do you agree?

Flavius, The new download process for fx149 is for the STUB installer, not the Firefox Setup file. These are two different installation processes. I don't understand why you made any changes to the https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/custom-installation-firefox-on-windows/ article. Can you get a second opinion on what, if any, changes were needed?

P.S. The version of the article before you updated it can be viewed here, under Revision Content:

I understand, but the article states you need to download_ the Firefox Setup file in your language, from this Firefox download page. _

The link there sends you to the new page that lets you download the Firefox Setup file. However, before doing so, there are some steps you need to take, such as selecting your operating system, and language. The new content explains that.

Now it should be good. I removed the Firefox Setup installation process.

Thanks for the changes you just made. I don't think the screenshots were needed since it adds unnecessary length to the article (I would have just added the steps).

Flavius, I made some changes to the download steps, since the https://www.firefox.com/download/all/desktop-release/ Firefox download page pre-selects the Firefox desktop version and some users may want to edit that choice. I also reduced the number of screenshots. Can you review?
See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/custom-installation-firefox-on-windows/history

P.S. I was wondering why you added {for fx149} markup around the download steps. It looks the same in Firefox 147 and 140 ESR.
