User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/142.0.0.0 Safari/537.36
Steps to reproduce:
I built Firefox-v140 esr on riscv64 board natively from sources on ubuntu-22.04 which has wayland desktop and it got built successfully.
Actual results:
But when opening the websites which has ReCAPTCHA verification like
https://www.google.com/recaptcha/api2/demo , the checkbox is keep on rotating like a circle and it doesn't finish the verification.
Expected results:
These should log in while opening the sites which contains these verifications on firefox on riscv64.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Core::JavaScript Engine: JIT' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

JIT is not enabled by default on RV64 in Fx 140esr (^1), and it will likely break if force enabled due to lack of numerous backports. So at least the component field might need to be reassessed. Steven, would you like to take a look?
Note that even on my x86-64 machines w/ Fx 146.0b1, https://www.google.com/recaptcha/api2/demo gets stuck circling with "Uncaught (in promise) Timeout" in console. So this might be a site config issue or some more generic problem.
To compare, https://recaptcha-demo.appspot.com/recaptcha-v2-checkbox.php works for both RV64 Fx 143.0 and x86-64 Fx 146.0b1.

Iain, could you help Rong with this?

I'm going to redirect this to the webcompat component. The fact that it also sometimes fails on x86-64 makes it seem particularly unlikely that it belongs in the JIT component.

ReCAPTCHA works in general, we'd 100% know about that. The RiscV support is fun, because we don't have that as an official target, and with web platform features missing, it's no surprise that random things fail. Hearing that this might affect other platforms, however, is concerning, but without a clear reproduction, it's hard to look into this.
Rong, does the ReCAPTCHA demo fail for you all the time, or just sometimes? Does it still fail for you? If it fails, do you have any addons installed that might block something?
If you don't have any addons and it still fails for you, can you try this in the current Firefox Nightly? And if you can still reproduce this in Firefox Nightly, please capture a profile with the "Web Compat" preset and share the link here, that would give us a ton of potentially useful information.

No, it's a clean install with no extensions. And the timeout is intermittent. I suspect it's all because of my geolocation when it comes to network or speed discussions -- I would recommend hearing from Saiteja (to whom I'm transferring needinfo) directly for their particular experience.

Firefox Profiler isn't available for Tier-3 platforms; Apologies for the inconvenience.
Yes, the ReCAPTCHA demo failed everytime on firefox and i'm able to reproduce the issue 100% everytime, there are no add-ons or extensions added. I am having good network and speed as i am in tier-1 geolocation. Any please do let us know if there's anything needed more info on this?
Regards,
Saiteja.

Setting the triage flags for now to make the bots happy and so I can take my vacation in peace. I'll come back to this, because I still want to check out our options here, but this isn't something that needs urgent attention now - but it also shouldn't be left untriaged. I'll cancel my bot-needinfo here, and then self-needinfo myself again so that this doesn't fall off into the void of unassigned tasks.

Rong or Saiteja, are you still affected by ReCAPTCHA blocking Risc V today?

I don't think so. And I believe the flaky results I mentioned in comment 2 was caused by slow connections, rather than bugs.

Alright. I'll close this issue based on that - but if it happens again, please do let us know. You can always file a new bug (and ideally reference this one) and we can try reaching out to Google. No guarantee it works given it's a rather uncommon architecture for now, but worth a shot for sure.
