There are around 90 reports over the past week where users experience a similar problem with the search input on baidu.com.
I was unable to reproduce the issue using Microsoft Pinyin keyboard, but filing this anyways, so we can track this.

Environment:
Operating system: Windows
Firefox version: Firefox 144.0.2 (release)

Some of the reports (translated from Chinese):

Typing search problem: Only the first letter appears in the search bar.

Baidu is constantly unusable. When I try to search, I can only type the first letter, and then nothing happens. I can't even delete anything. Can you please fix this quickly?

Sogou Input Method cannot display the first letter when typing text into the Baidu search box.

The search bar is unresponsive and prone to freezing.

When typing in the search box, only the first letter is displayed, and no further text can be entered.

Unable to type; using Microsoft Input Method, I consistently fail to input Chinese characters when opening Baidu.

The browser becomes unresponsive when Chinese characters are entered; Chinese content cannot be entered into the Baidu search box, and after a while, the browser crashes and reports an error.

Every time I open Baidu Browser from my bookmarks and type using the Chinese keyboard, the search bar displays the first letter I typed. No matter how many more letters I type after that, they won't appear, and I can't delete the search bar content. This usually causes the browser to crash.

Summary: www.baidu.com - CHANGE_ME → www.baidu.com - only the first letter appears in the search bar when entering Chinese characters

Some of the reporters mention that the browser crashes, so this might be related to bug1997738 and bug1824143

Whiteboard: [webcompat-source:product] → [webcompat-source:product][webcompat:sightline][webcompat:japan]

Yeah, this is caused by bug 1992288 which causes returning a lot of error for the queries from TSF/TIP.

Depends on: 1992288

Couldn't reproduce this either with Microsoft Pinyin keyboard on the latest Nightly (147).

We landed bug 1992288 2 days ago and given @masayuki's comment 2 which states this was caused by that bug, closing. We should keep an eye on this especially once 147 gets to release.
Masayuki: is something we can/should uplift?

I've already uplifted them to 146 (beta). Did you mean about 145 (release) and/or 140ESR? I think all of them can be uplifted (although some of them might need rebasing before requesting).

If you've already uplifted to 146, great!

Does this mean it should be fixed on RC 146 as well? I've checked and it works for me but I'm not sure if its fixed since I couldn't reproduce on Nightly before.

Flags: needinfo?(masayuki)

Right. All of the fixes have already been shipped to make the search form work normally (without returning errors to IME).
