Steps to reproduce:
Open a youtube video.
Actual results:
After a few seconds, the video freezes, then the tab becomes unresponsive. This issue happens randomly, it's not linked to a particular video, it's once every 10 or 20 videos.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Core::Audio/Video: Playback' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.
Same problem here, happening for a few weeks now. Since 144.0 at least but still have the issue in 145.0 (64 bits).
It occures very often. Generally the first video played in a tab is ok, but if I try another one it freezes the tab.
I can get stats or logs for investigation, please just tell me what is needed.

After updating Firefox to version 145.0.1 and watching a few videos on YouTube right when one was playing (AV1 via software-decoding) anything on the website froze (including audio and video and on hovering links the mouse cursor did not change) but Firefox remained responsive. The affected tab never stopped showing the sound symbol and it needed a few seconds to close after I hit its x and the task manager showed that a Firefox process was still running in the background utilizing around 40% of CPU usage while incrementing the memory usage a few hundred MiB over the course of maybe like a minute until the process seemed to exit.
This specific behavior indicates that this is probably a Firefox bug rather than a website bug. The issue occured on my normal profile where uBlock Origin is the only installed extension and some settings have been altered (like permanent PBM, RFP enabled, etc.).
I have to see if this occurs now more frequent and might be just a regression or if this was just a rare and very unlucky occurrence of a bug.
Same happens to me. I have a playlist running in the background, most of the times with Picture in Picture mode enabled, and the youtube tab will suddenly freeze about 20s after the video changes. CPU usage then skyrockets, I can close the affected tab but CPU use stays high. The only solution is to restart FF, which I have to do by killing the process in the Task Manager.
Can't recreate this bug at all so far, but it has only happened in tabs that run a playlist.

I couldn't reproduce the problem locally and the profile you shared didn't include the media related logging, could you please help re-record another one using about:logging and the media playback preset and share that for us to check? Thanks a lot!

Is there a point to doing this once the tab has developed the bug? All you can do in that case is try to close the tab or FF, but the tab in general is not responsive after it happened.
Nevermind, just had it happen again. The tab freezes, I start the log, but on log stop the browser won't load the report page. Tab opens, but the page load indicator just spins away.
A thing I noticed is that there were no comments in sight on the frozen tab. If not the culprit should at least give some indication on when in the load process the freeze occurs.

The issue happened here again as well and on investigating this a bit more I was able to find reproduction steps that reliable work on my system. With those I was able to capture a profile with the media preset while the freeze happened. The steps I did were:
- I opened Firefox and went to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Cm-7oCq9HA .
- The video started playing but was shortly after paused due to the appearing privacy/cookie banner where I rejected all and then the video continued playing.
- I scrolled down the list of recommended videos until a specific one appeared (it is called "【Official Music Video】みむかｩわナイストライ / Mimukauwa Nice Try" with currently 61 million views at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ljr2wMSBHqU ). Rarely the video is not in this list and I have to restart with step 1.
- Around 15-60 seconds after the video plays it freezes the tab.
What I also noticed is that I could reproduce the freeze only on this specific combination of videos. Going from another video to the target video did not reproduce this issue. Also the tab unfreezes after around a minute, the video plays for a few seconds and then all freezes again. This can repeat multiple times.

I found that 9/10 the freezes happen when switching to videos of this channel for me. On restarting FF they play fine. Also the next video of the channel doesn't necessarily freeze the browser, but if it does, it happens most likely on a video of the channel in question.

Out of curiosity since the last Firefox changelog mentioned several fixed crashes including media related ones I tried to reproduce my case again with an up-to-date system (including today's NVIDIA graphics drivers) but unfortunately the freeze reproduces on the video again.
