User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:145.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/145.0

Steps to reproduce:

Click on the extensions button on the toolbar.

Actual results:

A small window saying "You have extensions installed, but not enabled" was loaded, at the bottom of that small window is a "Manage extensions" button, clicking on that will bring up "Manage Your Extensions" page.

Expected results:

The "Manage Your Extensions" page should load, this was the behavior happening before installing Firefox 145.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'WebExtensions::Untriaged' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

Hello,

The new design of the extension button popup has been implemented with Bug 1778684 and this new design is shown only when there are no extensions with a browserAction (button) residing in it i.e. all extensions are pinned to the toolbar and the popup is empty.

As far as I can tell from the screenshot you attached, you have several extensions pinned to the toolbar and most likely a/few extension/s which were not pinned to the toolbar and are currently disabled in Add-ons Manager. You are thus seeing Bug 1999593, which is indeed a minor correction to be implemented for the new design.

As for the “Manage extensions” link at the bottom of the panel, clicking it will open about:addons (Add-ons Manager page) in a new tab if it is not currently open in a tab, or switch to the tab with about:addons if it is open but not in focus. This functionality has not changed.

With regards to the behavior of the button you know i.e. clicking it would open the Add-ons Manager page, that would happen only if there were no extensions in the panel, so the panel would have been empty. Clicking the extensions button in this “empty state” would open the Add-ons Manager page in a new tab directly. However, if you would have had any extensions with a button residing in the panel (extensions were not pinned to the toolbar), then the panel would have opened and shown a list of extensions. There would also be a “Manage extensions” link at the bottom of that panel behaving as I described above.

You can check to see that the behavior of the extensions button has not changed by enabling all your extensions which have a button and pinning them to the toolbar. Close the tab with Add-ons Manager and then click the extensions button. Doing so will open the Add-ons Manager page in a new tab as you are used to.

In conclusion, what you are experiencing is the expected behavior, albeit with the need for a small adjustment to be implemented as per Bug 1999593.

This was tested on the latest Nightly (147.0a1/20251116210936), Beta (146.0b3/20251114090405) and Release (145.0/20251106194447) under Windows 11.

I will be closing this report as Invalid, but feel free to reopen if the situation I described above does not apply to your particular case.
