My personal opinion is that the Junk/Not Junk control should be completely
disabled if both a spam and a ham message are currently selected.

However, the current behavior is broken: if you select a spam message in your
spam folder and mark it Not Spam, and then select another spam message, the
control sometimes shows "Junk" and sometimes shows "Not Junk".

In my limited testing, this seemed most easy to see if you select the non-spam
message and then do Shift-Up and Shift-Down. Selecting upwards seems to change
the button, while selecting downwards doesn't.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Accumulate a reasonable length Junk directory.
2. Select a message and mark it as "Not Junk".
3. Hold down the shift key and press UpArrow and DownArrow a few times to
observe the behavior.

Actual Results:
In one direction, the "Junk" button was changed to "Not Junk", and in the other
direction the "Junk" button stayed as "Junk".

Expected Results:
The "Junk" control should be disabled if both a spam and ham message are selected.

I'm tempted to up the severity, because of the really bad side effects of
marking mail incorrectly on the effectiveness of the spam filter, but I can't
really justify it for this issue.

Reporter, do you still see this problem with Firefox 1.0.2? If not, the bug has
probably been fixed and can be closed. Thanks.

Still happens with 20050313. Haven't tried with 1.0.2 yet, but I have not reason
to suspect that such a longstanding bug has been fixed in the last 2 weeks
without anyone noticing.

BTW, has anyone else noticed that (for a while) email moved to the trash by the
junk filter are not being shown as junk? I can select and junk them by hand, and
then they're shown as junk, but not until then. If it's not a known issue I'll
go file a report on it (perhaps it's designed that way, though, for some reason
I'm not aware of).

Magnus, any thoughts? User sees this also in thunderbird

I don't see the described button behavior with default theme, version 3.0a1pre (2007120503) - button does not change at all. Even if I did see it I'm not sure it's "pursueable" issue.

There are similar bugs filed about other functions (tags, mark read, etc) acting upon multiple selections that one might visit for comparison. Value the context menu or appearance of button is normally based on the first message selected.
Summary: Junk/Not Junk control confused when both selected → Junk/Not Junk control button behavior with multiple selected messages is confusing

Did I miss something? I can't find a note that reporter observed the problem in Thunderbird.

NOT reproducible with German SeaMonkey 2.32.1 Build 20150204202218 on German WIN7 64bit:
a) In inbox I can mark some mails as junk (after having unchecked Global Junk
setting "Move go Junk folder"), up-arrow- and down-arrow as per report
does not change Junk status of emails
b) In Junk folder, same result using up-arrow- and down-arrow as per report
after I had moved a not-jink-mail (drag and drop) from inbox to junk folder

So I close this one for now.
@Reporter: Please feel free to reopen this Bug if you still can reproduce with a current Seamonkey version and a current OS.

Not seen on most recent build (the behavior for multiple messages has entirely changed and no buttons appear, so obviously they can't be inconsistent). Closing is fine.
