Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:145.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/145.0

Steps to reproduce:

Using Firefox for a few hours, then after trying to rearrange some tabs, they start to glitch. I've observed this for a few months, also found a relevant reddit post describing the same issue: https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/comments/1mvy7o7/tabs_keep_glitching/

Actual results:

Some of the tabs overlap, some of them not appear in order and don't respond to clicks. The menu items, bookmarks, extensions etc. no longer respond to actions either.

Expected results:

The tabs should be working fine.

As additional info, I'm using the following extensions:
uBlock Origin
Proton Pass

The issue appeared before I've started to use Firefox Multi-Account Containers. The "Proxy Switcher" extension isn't installed on the other firefox I'm using - which also presents this behaviour occasionally.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::Tabbed Browser' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

Hi, thank you for the bug report!
Unfortunately I could not reproduce your issue. Would you be so kind as to answer a few questions so we can investigate this further?

Thank you.

Hello! I'm also experiencing this bug. I've managed to narrow down how to get it to happen reliably.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open more than one Firefox window
  2. Open multiple tabs in at least one window
  3. Alt-tab between the two windows (this may require several alt-tabs)
  4. Return to a window with multiple tabs open
  5. Attempt to drag a tab

Expected Results: The tab can be rearranged freely along the tab bar.
Actual Results: The tabs are unable to be dragged, and furthermore, the address bar and all related buttons in the window in which you attempted to drag a tab will become unresponsive to mouse input.

To my knowledge, the only way to make the address bar usable again is to close and reopen that window, and the only way to make tabs draggable again is to restart Firefox entirely.

I can't seem to edit my comment, so I'd like to make a small correction: Step 3 in the steps to reproduce may or may not require tabbing specifically between the Firefox windows.
