2004695 - Mac app bar Firefox icon disappears/flickers when launching a new profile

When opening Firefox, the icon disappears momentarily and then usually reappears. (I also saw one instance where there was no icon for an extended period, but relaunching corrected it.)

STR:

1. Launch Firefox on Mac
2. Select a profile
3. Notice the icon temporarily is empty
   a) I saw an empty icon for an extended period earlier today, but it corrected itself on relaunch

Example video of icon blinking after selecting a profile - I saw the icon remain empty for an extended period earlier today too.

Thanks for filing this bug!

Unfortunately the icon blinking is a workaround for a known, unsolved issue with the Mac dock icon vanishing on dark mode, though it was thought to be a first-run issue. For more details, see: https://searchfox.org/firefox-main/rev/e61d59b5c9a651fd7bf28043f87c0dc669833496/browser/components/profiles/SelectableProfileService.sys.mjs#1189-1210 and the related bug 1933222.

Please let us know if you're able to come up with a reliable set of steps to reproduce the icon vanishing and not reappearing--if not, I'll probably dupe this to 1933222.

Thanks, duping sounds good!

I haven't seen the empty icon for an extended period of time since the day of filing. I'll let you know if it happens again or if I can figure out how to make it happen.
