STR:

1. open trust panel while on a website (e.g. here bugzilla.mozilla.org)
2. click on "Privacy Settings"

Expected result: Trust panel closes
Got result: Trust panel stays open showing the insecure warning for about:blank

We tried reproducing this on Ubuntu but the panel stayed open. Could you provide more info on your OS and window manager and try to reproduce this on other devices?

The bug is that the panel stays open. Normally on about:preferences you can't open the trust panel. It is also in an inconsistent state: It displays the "Connection not secure" (similar to Bug 1997064, but within the panel).

I'm on Arch linux, Gnome 49, Wayland.

I indeed currently doesn't reproduce for me on my normal browser. However it does with a new profile (e.g. launching with ./mach mozregression --launch 2026-01-04).

Is there any possibility you have leave window open from devtools set? possibly set while debugging?

Alternatively with trustpanel disabled, can you reproduce this with the shield icon -> report broken site -> clicking one of the links there? Be interesting to know if this was trustpanel specific. Thanks

I haven't set anything else. I'm using a fresh profile with mozregression: ./mach mozregression --launch 2026-01-04.

When disabling the trust panel. Clicking on "Protection Dashboard" closes the shield menu and opens a new tab in the legacy shield menu. Same for "Report broken site" and "Protection dashboard".

Reenabling the trustPanel icon and trying clicking on on "Privacy Settings" still has the behavior observed in comment 0.

After trying around a bit more: It might only be observable the first time the trustPanel opens (or other conditions), because I can't reproduce when opening and closing the protection panel before starting the STR from comment 0.
