Details

Currently there are 3 ways to enable policies

  • policies.json can be used in the distribution directory
  • Firefox reads policies at startup from Windows Group Policy via HKLM\Software\Policies\Mozilla\Firefox
  • Firefox fetches policies from the console

For Firefox Enterprise, we want the console to be the unique source of truth, therefore policies.json and Windows GPO should stop being supported when the client is connected to the console.
