Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:148.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/148.0
Steps to reproduce:
Vertical Tabs are enabled and collapsed (not expanded, to save on screen space).
Actual results:
When I move the mouse over the tabs, the set of tabs expands so then I can read the full titles of all pages. However, observing with bpytop, CPU usage goes from about 2.2% to 80% once it expands the sidebar fully.
Expected results:
CPU usage should not spike.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::Sidebar' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

Hello! I have tried to reproduce the issue with firefox 149.0a1(2026-01-13) on Ubuntu 22.04, unfortunately I wasn't able to reproduce the issue.
Could you please answer the following question in order to further investigate this issue
- Does this issue happen with a new profile? Here is a link on how to create one: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-remove-switch-firefox-profiles
