Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:146.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/146.0

Steps to reproduce:

Very high GPU usage occurs when using the KWin Zoom effect (in KDE Plasma) while moving a cursor over Firefox.

Actual results:

When zoom is not active, the GPU usage is negligible. However, the GPU is almost fully occupied when zoom is active. Tested on Arch Linux with an Intel HD 510 iGPU.

Expected results:

GPU usage should stay similar to when zoom is not active.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Core::Widget: Gtk' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

Component: Untriaged → Widget: Gtk
Product: Firefox → Core

I think you should report that at KDE, not Firefox.

Blocks: wayland-kde

After more testing it seems that the GPU usage scales with the number of open windows, and other applications behave similarly when more windows are active.
