Details

This may be a dupe of bug 1722301, but I have STRs that, while not reliable enough for me to allow mozregression, seems to be consistent on my setup.

Using nightly, linux/wayland for a long time. I use Vertical Tabs as well as tab groups, but maybe it is not related directly to the issue.
What happens is that I want to move a tab, potentiellay a tab that is "far away" down or up into a group. So I drag it.
Sometimes during the drag & drop, while I still hold the tab with my mouse, it detaches itself like it's attracted to a specific place, and then starts again moving, sometimes, not always.

Once this happens, I get into this state:

  • the tab gets into the wrong tab group or place in the list of tabs
  • UI gets broken and I cannot interact with URL bar nor any buttons on the top anymore, like in previous "unfinished drag & drop" bugs

It may have been a long-standing issue but I only recently figured out ways to trigger it more reliably than "I was using my system and something happened"

What information are you looking for? It's Ubuntu 25.10 uptodate, very likely to still be the same issue as other dupes of bug 1722301

(especially since martin classified as dupe)

I am trying to compare the system information between the systems of different reporters of (allegedly) the same problem. This could (potentially) help us determine some cauzation. I could use the whole page of information (detailed steps in comment 2).

Any other information, or new discoveries about this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

no need, this is very likely what is described in bug 2022238 comment 22
