I think it should be possible to view the passwords in plain text that are saved with the signon option. Of course this option should be protected with database password. Otherwise it is very hard remember the passwords after some time and it may be impossible to move the passwords to a new version of the browser or a different browser.

There would be a lot of objections from security people if such an option were implemented. But the beauty of the saved passwords is that it should never be necessary for you to ever see your password again. New versions of the browser will always provide a way to migrate your old profile (the passwords are now part of the profile). Of course you won't be able to take it to an IE browser, but why would you ever want to run such a browser ;-). Therefore I'm closing this out as wont-fix.
I certainly will not, but I have that problem in the other direction. At work I had to use IE (for some time, but that changed) and no way to migrate my passwords. So I thought it would be a nice option, but I see the security implications.
