User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:148.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/148.0

Steps to reproduce:

Open Firefox.
Tap the address/search bar.
Type any word.
Press the space bar once.

Actual results:

no space is inserted
If the space bar is pressed twice slowly, a single space is inserted

Expected results:

a space should have been inserted

100% reproducible. Occurs every time.
Additional Notes:
Tested with multiple keyboards (Samsung Keyboard, SwiftKey, AnySoftKeyboard).
Issue is not keyboard-specific.
Occurs in normal browsing mode.
Occurs after restarting Firefox.

After further testing, I narrowed the issue down more precisely.
Device:
Galaxy Tab S9 FE
Android 16
One UI 8.0
Firefox:
147.0.3
Issue occurs in Stable, Beta, and Nightly
Extensions disabled
Reproduces in portrait and landscape
Affected Area
Firefox address bar only
Does NOT occur in webpage text fields
Does NOT occur in Chrome
Steps to Reproduce
Enable predictive text (or default typing features) in Android keyboard.
Open Firefox.
Tap the address bar.
Type a sentence with spaces.
Actual Result
Space bar sometimes does not register.
First letter of words may duplicate.
Example output:
areyyouwworkingnnow
Cursor may blink and shift position unexpectedly.
Input may eventually stop responding.
Control Testing
Turning predictive text OFF in Samsung keyboard → issue stops.
Turning predictive text back ON → issue returns.
Same behavior occurs with SwiftKey, even with all typing features disabled.
Chrome does not show this issue under the same keyboard conditions.
Conclusion
This appears to be related to how Firefox’s address bar handles Android IME composition / commit events when predictive text is active. It does not appear to be keyboard-specific.
If you want to go one step further (optional but strong), add:
This behavior is 100% reproducible on this device.

Component: Search → Toolbar
