Bug 2011412 disabled showing favicons in the awesomebar for suggested "remote tabs". The short version of the story is that we want a favicon of form moz-remote-image://?url=cached-favicon%3Ahttps..., which is a doubly-wrapped original favicon - but this doesn't work, probably because child processes can't get the icon from the places db. There's more details in the referenced bug. This bug exists as a followup to work out the best path forward here.
