Firefox for Android

Steps to reproduce:

First off, please understand that I am not a tech person but I will do the best I can.

This concerns Firefox on both my phone and PC.

Three times passwords have been randomly disappeared from my Firefox PC. Initially I was able to sync my passwords from the phone. Syncing did not happen straight away but if I left my phone by my PC it did sync eventually, after a wait for an hour to one day or so (random).

On the second occasion, it turned out that two additional had been profiles had been installed without my knowledge and Firefox seemed to choose the wrong one (because it was there?!). Ultimately after a number of re-boots Fire fox found the correct one and syncing was successful on that occasion.

Bear in mind that I had not invoked any additional profiles as I had no need to and therefore had no knowledge of profiles.

I deleted two of the profiles and, again after some time with the phone left by the PC, a sync did happen successfully.

On this third and final occasion the phone will not sync with the PC at all.

I have tried removing Firefox from both the PC and phone, then reinstalling with no success.

I did have a look at the error report but I'm afraid I don't understand a word of it. To my eyes, it could be written in Urdu or some such..

I posted on the Firefox community and ultimately an Administrator considered that the problem is a bug and suggested that I file a bug report.

Include your browser's user agent string in the bug description. This can be helpful to developers working on your issue. ?? I do not know what or where this is to be found.

I have attached the Error Report for the current event. I do have another file from 07/02/2026 which you may find useful but there is no way of attaching two file with this report.

I apologise if the information here is sketchy at best but, as I say, I am not a tech person.

Actual results:

See above.

Expected results:

Passwords from the phone should have been copied to the PC.

Now this is also very strange. This morning, two days after I reported this potential bug, all my passwords suddenly reappeared.
Having reported this Sync Error Report on 26-02-2026, I have just waited to see what you think may be going wrong. I have not looked at or tried to sync the passwords.
Yet this morning the passwords suddenly appeared! How is it that two days later sync suddenly decides to do it's thing?

On a previous occasion, when my passwords disappeared, some three days later they also randomly re-appeared. Yesterday I had my phone with me and away from the PC from 8am until 11pm. My phone was put next to my PC when I turned in.

Something is certainly wrong somewhere but what and how is this happening after such a long delay?

Thanks for the bug report and sorry this is happening to you.

It's hard to say what's going on, but I have a couple ideas:

  • Is password syncing being toggled on and off? When I look through that sync log, it seems like the passwords were synced once, then on the next sync they were disabled. Is it possible that you're disabling passwords from the choose what to sync dialog, either on your desktop Firefox or on your mobile one?
  • It may be related to the extra profiles that you're switching between. Do you have any ideas on where those came from and why Firefox switched to them?
  1. When it comes to toggling on and off, I did remove syncing websites from mobile phone when I was trying to get syncing to work. I reduced it to just passwords.
  2. As for profiles. I have absolutely no idea where they came from. I have no need of additional profiles, stuff is complicated enough without adding more! During an earlier iteration of the password syncing problem I discovered there were three profiles. At that time, and as I didn't have the knowing of profiles, or the need of them for that matter, I didn't do anything with them, in fact I studiously ignored them. It wasn't until this latest loss of passwords, when I discovered that Firefox seemed to switching randomly between profiles, After some further research, I decided to delete two of them. It didn't make any difference to the syncing problem.
  3. The strange thing is., as I mentioned previously, that three days after the passwords went missing, they returned again.
  4. For the moment, having lost some confidence and not having the time to go through all that rigmarole again, I have paused using Firefox. I would really like to reinstate Firefox again as soon as I feel that some stability has returned.

Have you updated to 149 or later and does it still persist?

The honest answer is that I have no idea.
As I said previously, I have reluctantly abandoned Firefox for the time being due to mistrust following the password thing. I would dearly love to return to the Firefox fold but until this password/profile thing is resolved I am reluctant to do so. Sorry
