In 5.0, we need a feedback of compose/send charset because the editor can show any characters (uses unicode) but no obvious feedback to the user of sending charset. The proposal is to show the charset name in UI (e.g. window title, status bar) if the mail charset is different from the user's default charset (can be taken by calling nsMsgI18NGetDefaultMailCharset).

Reassign to ducarroz. I think we need to finalize our design for where in the UI we're going to provide this feedback.
Ideally, it would be nice if it was in the StatusBar area along with other per message, non-default settings, but space is very limited in the StatusBar. If this can't fit in the StatusBar area, the window title area would be choice #2.

In IE5 and OE5, you can customize the Tool Bar menu to display ecrtain tools. One of the options offered is the Encoding menu (our Character Coding menu). This simply puts the Encoding menu on the Tool bar if the user chooses and makes it easier to access that menu. I think we can improve on this idea and offer the menu and currently selected character coding on either Tool Bar of the window or Composer Tool Bar which is right above the Edit field. Another idea we can think about.

** Checked with 3/23/2000 Win32 build ** This feature is now working with M15 builds. The chosen charset name will display when it is not the same as the current default charset. I don't know if we should call this a problem but when you change the default to the one which is currently showing the window title area, the display does not disappear unless you switch to another charset and come back to it or unless you open another window. Marking it verified/fixed.
