User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:140.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/140.0

Steps to reproduce:

This could be under-reported problem. People will have problems reporting this bug. Yesterday I have updated my Firefox to 149.0, using official debian sources, mozilla-deb - 1.0

cat /etc/apt/sources.list.d/mozilla.list
deb [signed-by=/etc/apt/keyrings/packages.mozilla.org.asc] https://packages.mozilla.org/apt/ mozilla main

Whenever I try to save anything (image, website, Ctrl+S, print website to file, Ctrl+P, firefox screenshots, same problem) my Firefox tries to "Open" something instead.

Actual results:

I see dialog window with header Save As, but the final button is labeled "Open" and after clicking it usually nothing happens. I haven't been able to save anything since this update. Only system-wide screenshots work for me now.

I had to use another installation 140.9 in order to attach screenshot here. In the problematic 149.0, after clicking "Browse..." and selecting file, nothing happens, and no upload, moreover button won't respond to clicking anymore. Then I force refresh, and this text within this form disappears, but on support.mozilla.org my attached image appeared. On Bugzilla I can't upload anything, refresh doesn't change anything.

Expected results:

I should see button "Save" and it should save the actual file. It should save image from website, it should save print-to-PDF from Ctrl+P. It should attach browsed file. Please help us.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::Screenshots' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

  1. Bot is terribly wrong,
    This problem concerns all possible activities leading to saving any file. Not merely screenshots.
  • can't save website, html, pdf, jpg, png, any image from any website.
  • can't Ctrl+P ->
  • Now I have right-clicked on mozilla.org website to "donate" image, it gives me "save" headline, but "Open" button.
  • clicking on "open" button doesn't create any visible action
  • doesn't matter if troubleshoot mode on/off
  • I created fresh profile, same problem, it didn't go away,
  • I keep looking at F12 -> console/debugger - nothing happens here, I guess it's not website relevant.
  • I wish I could give you more information

Below, these are example processes that my Debian is running concerning Firefox:

  • this brand-new profile, just started Firefox, start-welcome website only:

  • I haven't seen any crash notice, but If you need anything from inside running crashhelper, I may be able to extract content, example file '1', from 'fd' directory, just let me know,

Running from command line gives only this:

  1. I have extracted content from running crashhelper.
  1. I have tried the same extraction before, the folowing one was running much longer, from the morning, there could be many entries not relevant to this problem : https://pastebin.com/ZAgKSdBJ
